Commonwealth agencies assist member countries to improve their investment climate and establish ways to attract long-term investments. Representing over 100 businesses across the Commonwealth, the Commonwealth Business Council provides information on investment opportunities and promotes private and public sector investment in Commonwealth countries. The Commonwealth Secretariat helps member countries to strengthen policies which encourage investment by lowering investment costs, reducing risks, improving human and institutional capacities, and expanding access to knowledge and technology.

Universities get $38 billion to open more doors

Universities will receive a a total of $38.8 billion over the next four years to support a record 770,000 students. The 2012 academic year was the first time undergraduate places were unlimited at all public universities, driving a $5.2 billion increase above previous funding levels between 2010 and 2015.

Glasgow set for supersize Commonwealths

The 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will be the biggest yet after organisers finalised the full programme for the 17-sport, 11-day event. There will be 256 medal events from July 23 to August 3, 2014, with 22 of them para-sports medal events.
